New Business Development Director for the MENA region

The Board of SPS is delighted to welcome Aqeel Mallalah Abdullah as a director of the company.

The role will be to develop commercial opportunities for SPS and our technology partners and be the key link into Government and commercial organisations, as our ambassador in the region.

Aqeel’s background and professional expertise is uniquely suited to this role. Until his retirement from Government service, he was the deputy Ambassador to the UK from Oman for about 5 years. Previous roles include similar positions in Italy, Germany and South Korea. He has also worked in the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Muscat, Oman for around 10 years.

He speaks fluent Arabic & English and holds a degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, USA.

Excellent Test results

Independently accredited instrumented pipe tests at DNV Spadeadam have given excellent results.

Both constrained and unconstrained tests confirmed previous factory tests, with the key test result within 1% of FEA calculations.

The DnV team were impressed that FEA calculations were so close as burst tests are notoriously difficult to predict.

This is very good confirmation of our engineering methodology and a strong foundation from which now to go on to further lifetime performance testing.
