Our process offers to dramatically reduce the supply chain for pipeline construction
Current pipeline technology consists of transporting steel plate to a pipe mill, forming pipe sections, usually 12m in length, transporting these sections to a coating plant, then transporting to pipe dumps spaced along the right of way of the pipeline. The pipe sections are then welded together on site – requiring extensive manual labour. The sections are lifted into the trench or on to sleeper supports using heavy lift equipment. Field joint coatings are applied to protect the welded joints from corrosion.
SPS introduces an automated in-field manufacturing process. Only raw materials are delivered to the pipeline right of way. Our mobile manufacturing modules form and coat pipe in the field. This approach simplifies the supply chain, reducing cost and environmental impact, and improving logistics.
