At the heart of the SPS approach is the concept of mobile installation for higher pressure onshore pipelines. Raw materials are delivered to a mobile factory that moves along the pipeline terrain, fabricating and laying pipe in a continuous operation.
This is made possible by using a multi-layer approach to pipe design with high strength steel supporting a fluid retaining liner around which reinforcement and coating layers are applied in the field with automated machinery.
The mobile factory essentially consists of three modules: inner lining, reinforcement and environmental coating on a terrain following moving platform.
