On October 22nd , SPS Chair, Andrew Stevenson was invited to present MASiP spiral fibre optic digital pipeline monitoring technology to a consortium of pipeline operators active in the US market. The state of N Dakota has funded an innovative programme to pull in new technologies to deal with the growing issues of leak detection. MASiP offers to go one step further than this by offering a truly predictive approach aimed at leak prevention. The response of the consortium was positive and summarised as “ the first truly holist approach we have seen which really offers to move the needle”. Leak prevention in pipelines is a key contribution to any plan to reduce the carbon footprint in the energy sector to a sustainable level.
